Residents pitch in to help clean up city

Works and Emergency Services -- It's time for everyone to pitch in to help
clean up Toronto.

Community Clean-up Day will take place on Saturday, May 12. On that day,
residents of the city are encouraged to help clean up a small part of their
neighbourhood.

Community groups, homeowners, tenants, schools and businesses are asked to take
the initiative and help make a difference by cleaning up a neglected laneway, a
cluttered underpass or a park.

Toronto's Works and Emergency Services Department will schedule special garbage
pickups to haul the trash away.

Beginning last year, the City of Toronto initiated the Clean Toronto program
aimed at keeping our streets and parks free of litter. It is up to all
residents of Toronto to do their part to keep Toronto clean.

Take pride in the city. Call 416-392-9808 before May 4 to register for the
Community Clean-up Day.
