Employers Poised to Hire Persons With Disabilities

More than 50,000 persons with disabilities are looking for work in greater
Toronto. Thanks to the jobsMARKET, finding work is now a little easier for
these job seekers. On March 28, more than 50 employers will come together under
one roof to offer hundreds of job opportunities for persons with disabilities.
The jobsMARKET For Persons With disABILITIES will be held at Metro Hall in
Toronto.

"Purolator Courier has participated in these events since 1998 and we have been
very pleased with the results," said Joe Worden, Recruiter, Purolator Courier.
"Being able to meet with so many candidates in a short period of time is
invaluable to our company. The quality of job seekers is exceptional and most
are very well prepared to discuss specific opportunities. Personal contact
makes a world of difference."

Employers from diverse industries will be on-site to accept resumes, answer
questions and conduct mini-interviews. Direct access will provide job seekers
with the opportunity to speak with representatives from, among others,
Hewlett-Packard (Canada) Inc., Canada 3000, McDonald's Restaurants of Canada,
Bank of Montreal, Sunoco Inc., Sears Canada and Danier Leather.

"Over 100,000 job seekers have taken part in jobsMARKET events across Southern
Ontario. Past jobsMARKET For Persons With disABILITIES have shown that within
12 weeks of the event, 43 per cent of job seekers had gone to at least one
interview and 22 per cent had found employment," said Jill Ash, Senior Manager,
Centre for Education and Training. "There are 300,000 persons with disabilities
in greater Toronto and 17 per cent are actively seeking employment."

Persons with disabilities can take advantage of support services featured at
this event, including sign language interpreters, personal care attendants,
sighted guides, note takers, wheelchairs, wide aisles and job postings online,
in hard copy and in braille. The event is open to the public and admission is
free.

The jobsMARKET For Persons With disABILITIES will be held from 10 a.m. to 7
p.m. at the Metro Hall, 55 John Street, Toronto. More information about the
jobsMARKET, including a complete list of employers, is available at www.jobsmarket.org or by
calling 905-457-4747 ext. 297 (TTY 905-457-5301).

Co-ordinated by the Centre for Education and Training in partnership with the
Toronto Consortium of Employment Services for Persons with Disabilities, the
event is funded by Human Resources Development Canada, the Ministry of
Community and Social Services, and the City of Toronto.
