The Big Bid Bash - Festival Kick-Off
On Friday, July 6 at 8 p.m., the intersection of Yonge and Eglinton will be
rocking with an incredible kick-off to the fourth annual Celebrate Toronto
Street Festival presented by Shoppers Drug Mart. This year's Opening
Ceremonies pulls out all stops to cheer on Toronto's Bid for the 2008 Summer
Olympic Games one week prior to the "host city announcement" scheduled for July
13, 2001 in Moscow. Join us as we send a message to Moscow? Toronto is ready
for the games!

Setting the stage for a full weekend of fun, the opening ceremonies include
performances by the pop-rock duo, McMaster & James, the award-winning rock and
jazz orchestra, Lighthouse, the pumped-up ska beats of the Arsenals, plus the
Latin rhythms of Juan Miguel and His Orchestra.

The evening also features a tribute to Olympic sport and the cultural Olympiad
with a cirque performance over centrestage by Toronto's Cirque Sublime and an
off-the-wall dance performance by Hi Xposure. Check out the dazzling midway
action and pay as you play on more than 1400 feet of wild rides to make you
scream! Last but not least, this amazing event culminates with a dance party
featuring lively cover band Go Figure to keep the audience celebrating in the

Celebrate Toronto Street Festival transforms the city's famous Yonge Street
into 400,000 square feet of fabulous free entertainment featuring 10 stages,
1200 performers and more than 700 things to see and do! It all starts on
Friday, July 6 at 8:00 p.m. at the Yonge & Eglinton site where The Big Bid Bash
officially opens this year's festival. The celebration continues throughout the
weekend at all four festival sites, open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 7
and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 8.

Admission to the festival is FREE! So, get your feet on Yonge Street for one of
the greatest street festivals on the continent and Celebrate Toronto!
