Michael Garrett, Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Toronto,
announced today that Wanda Liczyk, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, is
leaving the City of Toronto to move to the City's wholly-owned energy company,
Toronto Hydro, as Senior Vice-President, Chief Financial Officer.
"As the new City of Toronto's first Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer,
Wanda has made an important contribution to the establishment of the largest
city in the country," said Garrett. "Wanda's energy and commitment have guided
Council and staff alike through the enormous fiscal challenges we have faced in
amalgamating seven municipalities into a single strong city. Pulling together
four difficult budget cycles, implementing current value assessment and
integrating seven financial departments top the list her accomplishments."
"Wanda's capacity to take on challenges," Garrett added, "and her background,
experience and talent will bring a unique perspective to Toronto's energy
sector. As residents we will continue to benefit from her dedication to the
betterment of this city. On behalf of the corporation I thank Wanda and wish
her the very best in the future."
Ms. Liczyk's last day with the City of Toronto is June 1, 2001. A nation-wide
search for a replacement will begin immediately.
