Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity: Toronto's Carefree Lodge offers residents a new touch of nature

Toronto's Carefree Lodge offers residents a new touch of nature

On Thursday, October 11, Toronto Councillor David Shiner (Ward 24 Willowdale)
will join residents, staff, community sponsors and special guests to celebrate
the opening of a new secure, therapeutic garden at Carefree Lodge, a Toronto
Home for the Aged.

Date: Thursday, October 11

Time: 3:30 p.m.

Location: Carefree Lodge
306 Finch Ave. E.
Toronto

Carefree Lodge is known for its beautiful surrounding gardens, but the existing
gardens were not accessible and they were not secure for residents who are at
risk of wandering. To ensure that all residents can enjoy the gifts that nature
has to offer, the community stepped in to help create a new garden.

This ceremony will mark the completion of the garden, which was designed by the
students and faculty of Seneca College. The garden was financed by an extensive
fundraising effort in the community that raised $58,000.
