Building permit inspection requirements harmonized

Urban Development Services -- The Building Division has harmonized, or
standardized, requirements for building, plumbing and HVAC (heating,
ventilation and air conditioning) inspections across the amalgamated City of
Toronto. Contractors and home owners are responsible for arranging inspections
according to permit requirements.

Two new brochures listing the requirements are available at all offices of the
Building Division, Urban Development Services.

"When to call for inspections: small buildings" deals with houses and small
commercial structures (Part 9 of the Ontario Building Code).
"When to call for inspections: large buildings" deals with factories and
apartment buildings (Part 3 of the Ontario Building Code)

Builders and property owners can call the inspection office for their area to
find out names and phone numbers for local inspectors.
