Nominations wanted for 2001 City of Toronto Volunteers of the Year Awards
The City of Toronto and the Volunteer Centre of Toronto are seeking nominations
for the 2001 Volunteers of the Year Awards.

Mayor Mel Lastman, members of Toronto City Council and the Volunteer Centre of
Toronto will announce the 2001 Award winners during National Volunteer Week,
April 22- 28, 2001. The Awards program is jointly sponsored by the City of
Toronto and the Volunteer Centre of Toronto to honour and recognize the many
dedicated, caring and enthusiastic people from across Toronto who give so much
of their time.

"Volunteers are the heart and soul of our great City and make Toronto the best
place in the world to live, work and play," said Mayor Mel Lastman. "Our City
is a more humane and compassionate place because of volunteers and this program
is an opportunity to praise, publicize, reward and celebrate the many people
who serve our City in so many different ways."

Individuals of all ages who provide volunteer services in the City of Toronto
are eligible for the awards. Information and nomination forms are available

Deadline for all nominations is Thursday, March 15, 2001.
