Media Advisory: Toronto City Council welcomes City's first ever Poet Laureate
  
Economic Development, Culture and Tourism -- Toronto poet Dennis Lee will
officially "take up the pen" as Toronto's first ever Poet Laureate at the April
26 meeting of Toronto City Council.

Following his introduction to City Council by Councillor David Soknacki
(Scarborough Highland Creek), who initiated and championed the idea of creating
the position of Poet Laureate for Toronto, Mr. Lee will read one of his poems.

Members of the media will be invited to chat with Mr. Lee in the Members'
Lounge of the Toronto City Hall Council Chamber following the reading.
