Media Advisory: Volunteer service to be honoured at special award ceremony

On behalf of Toronto City Council, Deputy Mayor Case Ootes and Councillor Irene
Jones will present 22 volunteers and two groups with Volunteers of the Year
Awards for their dedication and outstanding contribution to the city. In total,
they have provided 28,856 hours of volunteer service over the past year.

Date: Wednesday, June 6

Time: 5 p.m.

Location: Toronto City Hall Council Chamber

Recipients, ranging in age from 16 to 91, were chosen based on length of
service, commitment and volunteer activities. One of the honoured recipients
has volunteered for 75 years.

The Volunteers of the Year Awards program, jointly sponsored by the City of
Toronto and the Volunteers Centre of Toronto, celebrates the importance of
volunteering and honours volunteers from across Toronto.
