Task Force 2010 open houses to begin Monday
Members of the public will have an opportunity to voice their opinions about
Toronto's waste diversion plans at a series of open houses throughout the city
beginning Monday, February 19. The full listing is on the City's website

Task Force 2010, announced by Mayor Mel Lastman in January, will allow the
public to provide input toward a comprehensive strategy to meet Council's waste
diversion target of 100 per cent by 2010.

"The goal is to achieve a made-in-Toronto solution," said Councillor Betty
Disero, co-chair of Task Force 2010. "I am looking forward to the public's
direction, input and advice on how they think we should get this job done."

As well as gathering input from residents, Task Force 2010 intends to have open
discussions with senior levels of government and the private sector.

"There will be some tough choices for Toronto to make, but we must become a
leader in North America by dealing with this challenge," Disero said. "Come and
have your say. Tell the City how we can meet our waste diversion goals."
