Final property tax bills are in the mail
Finance -- All City of Toronto 2001 final property tax bills have now been
mailed. The bills are due and payable on the dates listed below. Taxpayers
should allow sufficient time for their payment to be received by the Tax Office
so as to avoid penalty and interest charges.

Taxes may be paid in person at all civic centres and City Hall:
East York Civic Centre, 850 Coxwell Ave.
Etobicoke Civic Centre, 399 The West Mall
North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge St.
Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr.
York Civic Centre, 2700 Eglinton Ave. W.
Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W.

Regular hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Extended hours are from Monday, June
25 to Thursday, July 5, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Payment can also be made at any
financial institution, and by telephone and Internet banking. Tax bill payments
can also be mailed to the City of Toronto Finance Department, P.O. Box 5000,
Toronto, ON M2N 5V1.

Regular hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Extended hours until Tuesday July 3: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The City also offers the option of paying property taxes through a
pre-authorized tax payment program. This plan allows taxpayers to pay over six
or eleven instalments during the year. The next enrolment deadline is September
10, 2001 for interim property taxes in 2002. Taxpayers interested in applying
for the PTP program must pay the current tax bill that was just received and
submit the PTP application with a voided cheque. Applications for the PTP
program will also be accepted by mail or can be delivered to one of our offices.

The last three of six payments for the regular instalment plan and the six
instalment pre-authorized tax payment plan are due July 3, August 7 and
September 4, 2001.

For those on the 11-month pre-authorized plan, the withdrawal date is the 15th
of every month or the nearest business day thereafter.
