Nominations for Ward 31 by-election close November 2
  
Individuals wishing to put their name forward as a candidate for Councillor in
the December 3 by-election in Ward 31, Beaches-East York have until Friday,
November 2 at 5 p.m. to file their nomination papers.

The by-election fills a vacancy on City Council left by Michael Prue who was
elected to the Ontario Legislature on September 20. The term of office is from
December 4, 2001 to November 30, 2003.

To be eligible, candidates must:
  • be 18-years-old by November 2
  • be a Canadian citizen
  • live in the City of Toronto, or they or their spouse rent or own property in Toronto at any time between October 4, 2001 and December 3, 2001
  • not be prohibited from running for municipal office by any piece of legislation.

Individuals must come to the elections office on the 5th floor, West Tower,
City Hall by 5 p.m. on November 2. Candidates must sign a declaration that they
are eligible to run for office and provide a $100 filing fee (cash, certified
cheque or money order).
