Jump starting Toronto Mayor's Two Wheel Drive program

Toronto Parks and Recreation's Community Partnerships has called in 50 members
of the Queen's York Rangers (National Defence) to give a jump start to the
Mayor's Two Wheel Drive program this Saturday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at
200 Wellesley St. E. (corner of Wellesley and Bleeker).

With the strong support of Canadian Tire Corporation, the program provides
newly refurbished bikes and helmets to underprivileged youth from the Toronto
Children's Breakfast Club who have completed a standard safety course
administered by the Toronto Police Services.

A bike drive organized last fall saw approximately 1,000 bikes donated for
refurbishing over the winter months. Since its inception in 1999, the program
has received more than 3,000 bikes to be distributed this spring with the help
of Canadian Tire employees and the Queen's York Rangers.
