Media Advisory: Park renamed to honour social worker Charlotte Maher
Parks and Recreation Division -- Members of the media are invited to attend the
official renaming ceremony of Roehampton Park to Charlotte Maher Park.

Councillors Michael Walker and Anne Johnston will officiate the event with
Claire Tucker-Reid, General Manager, Parks and Recreation, and Don Boyle,
Director, Parks and Recreation, South District. Charlotte Maher will be in

Location: The park is located at 550 Roehampton Ave., between McBain and
Roehampton Avenues, west of Rowley Avenue and east of Walder Avenue.

Charlotte Maher has been an active social advocate in North Toronto for more
than 30 years. She was a key founder of several social service organizations,
including POINT (People and Organizations In North Toronto) and SPRINT (Senior
People Resources In North Toronto).

After being elected as a City of Toronto Board of Education trustee in 1972,
she served as a contract executive director at many social assistance agencies.
A strong believer in the value of volunteerism, she has volunteered at many
institutions, often as chair or board member.
