Mayor Tory announces the 2016 CIMA Mayor's Cricket Team
Mayor John Tory, along with event sponsors, congratulated the 12 Toronto-area youth selected to represent Toronto in the Cricket Across the Pond (CAP) program taking place in Trinidad from August 7 to 14.

"Everyone in this line up has earned their spot on this team by working hard and displaying sportsmanship," said Mayor John Tory. "I know I speak for Torontonians when I say that this city is behind this year's CIMA Toronto Mayor's Cricket Team and we know they will represent us well in Trinidad."

Mayor Tory was joined by Michael Lam, Chair of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Canada and sponsor representatives Imtiaz Seyid, Vice President, South Asian and Middle Eastern Markets, RBC Royal Bank; Tom Mihalik, owner of Tom's Place; and Andy Pringle, Chair of the Toronto Police Services Board.

The City of Toronto is CIMA's partner in promoting the CAP scholarship program. CAP uses cricket as a vehicle to reach out to youth ages 16 to 20, from diverse neighbourhoods in the Toronto area, by giving them a sense of hope, increased self-esteem and opportunities to become positive role models in their communities. The tour also aims to showcase the power of sports to cross cultural and geographic borders and strengthen the bonds between nations.

Through this event, team members will receive a trip to Trinidad to compete against a local team and cricket skills training.

Players for the 2016 CIMA Mayor’s Cricket Team are:
• Cordy Antoine, George Harvey C.I., Toronto
• Vrund Gohil, Woburn Collegiate Institute, Toronto
• Mamik Luthra, Bramalea Secondary School, Brampton
