City of Toronto to host Canada Day picnic for Syrian newcomers
Mayor John Tory, along with the City of Toronto's Newcomer Office and COSTI Immigrant Services, will host a picnic for Syrian newcomers in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday and COSTI's 65th anniversary.

Date: Friday, June 30
Location: High Park (inside the Bloor St. gates, west of West Rd.)
1873 Bloor St. W.
Times: 12:30 p.m. arrival and lunch
12:45 to 1 p.m. – remarks
1:45 to 3 p.m. – children's activities

The City began actively implementing its Refugee Resettlement Program in October 2015, including entering into service agreements with community agencies to increase supports and resources available to new Torontonians and their sponsors. More information on the program is available at

For 65 years COSTI has contributed to the social fabric of the city, province and country. COSTI was founded in 1952 by the Italian community to help immigrants settle in their new home.
