Councillor James Pasternak (Ward 10 York Centre), Chair of the Community Development and Recreation Committee, will be joined by Barbara Byers, Director of Public Education for the Lifesaving Society, Buddy the Lifeguard Dog and members of the community to kick off the outdoor pool season in Toronto.

Date: Thursday, June 30 (weather permitting)
Time: 1 to 3 p.m. (remarks at 1.30 p.m.)
Location: Donald D. Summerville Olympic Pools, 1867 Lake Shore Blvd. E.

All 57 outdoor pools will begin their full-time summer schedules on Thursday, June 30 and will remain open with varying schedules until Labour Day weekend.

A life-saving demonstration will also take place. In addition, City staff will be on site to accommodate media who want to take footage of the first outdoor pool day. This location will be the only opportunity for media to film from the pool deck on opening day. Media access will not be available at any other outdoor pool locations.
