Media Advisory - Mayor David Miller to speak at Latino youth conference
  
Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation will host Perspectives 2006: Latino Youth in the Urban Village with introductory remarks by Mayor David Miller, presentations by community leaders, a Q and A session, and workshops. The conference will provide a forum for the public to discuss the recreational needs of Hispanic youth and how Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation programs and services can address these needs.

Date: Saturday, March 4
Time: 1 to 4 p.m. (registration at noon)
Location: Council Chamber, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W.

The community leaders on the panel include:
  • Father Hernán Astudillo, Founder, Voces Latinas 1610AM
  • Jamal Clarke, Executive Director, Friends in Trouble
  • Lita González-Dickey, Community Relations Officer, Toronto Catholic District School Board
  • Lalita Krishna, Documentary Filmmaker
  • Rodrigo Moreno, Photographer and Creator of Shades Photography


Members of the public may register by calling 416-717-3824 or by emailing rjones3@toronto.ca. There is no charge for attendance, but pre-registration is suggested as space is limited.

The conference will be followed by entertainment by Latin American groups in the City Hall Rotunda.
