Toronto’s Heavy Urban Search and Rescue team wins competition in Quebec

The City of Toronto’s Heavy Urban Search and Rescue (HUSAR) team accomplished a first place finish in Gatineau, Quebec at SARSCENE 2006 -- an annual search and rescue games competition.

“I am extremely proud of the members of the Toronto HUSAR team on their outstanding proficiency and finishing in first place overall,” said Fire Chief Bill Stewart. “This is the third time in four years that Toronto has won this event after competing against teams from across Canada in search and rescue techniques.”

Toronto’s HUSAR team is made up of members from Toronto Emergency Medical Services, Toronto Fire Services, Toronto Police Service and Toronto Water.
