City recognizes Grassroots Store for their 2006 Commuter Challenge win

On behalf of Toronto City Council, Councillors Joe Mihevc and Sylvia Watson will present the Grassroots Store BUG (Bicycle User Group) with an official scroll recognizing the group’s commitment to cycling in Toronto.

Date: Thursday, August 3
Time: 10 to 11 a.m.
Location: City Hall, Members’ Lounge

On the launch day of Bike Week, May 29, 2006, the Grassroots Store BUG assembled 37 participants for Bike Week’s 17th Annual Group Commute and Free Pancake Breakfast at City Hall.

Grassroots made a significant contribution to reducing traffic congestion, sustaining the environment and encouraging others to choose cycling as a form of transportation by supporting and participating in Bike Week events.

The Bicycle User Group (BUG) Network encourages cyclists at a workplace, in a neighbourhood, community or a school to work together to improve conditions for cyclists, or to enjoy riding together.
