Media Advisory - Action Plan identifies new steps to help low income residents
Councillor Joe Mihevc and Toronto Social Services staff will brief the media on an action plan that proposes a new direction for social assistance and employment services to respond to the needs of Toronto’s low income residents. “Systems of Survival, Systems of Support: An Action Plan for Social Assistance in Toronto” aims to ensure that benefits people receive, and the employment services and supports that help the city’s vulnerable residents find and keep jobs, are available, adequate and effective.

Date: Monday, May 1
Time: 11 a.m.
Location: Toronto City Hall, Large Boardroom, 23rd Floor, East Tower, 100 Queen St. W.

The Action Plan is a response to Toronto City Council’s request for recommendations on how the Ontario Works program can respond better to the needs of low income people. The Plan will go before the Community Services Committee on May 8.
