Media Advisory - Talent show to help launch City’s United Way fundraising campaign
The Toronto Public Service will launch its 2006 campaign for the United Way of Greater Toronto on Nathan Phillips Square. City employees will compete in a talent show called City Singers.

Date: Tuesday, September 12
Time: Noon to 2 p.m.
Place: Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W.

Mayor David Miller, City Manager Shirley Hoy and Frances Lankin, president and chief executive officer of the United Way of Greater Toronto, are the featured speakers. Mike Cooper and Erin Davis of CHFI radio will emcee the event.

The City Singers contest will begin at about 12:30 p.m., following the speeches. Celebrity judges will evaluate the nine performances and later announce three winners.

Members of Toronto Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services will present a barbecue on the square as part of the campaign launch. Everyone is welcome.
