Watermain break closes Lakeshore Boulevard

The eastbound lanes of Lakeshore Blvd., between Lower Simcoe St. and York St., remain closed due a watermain break that occurred at approximately 4 a.m. this morning. Westbound Lakeshore lanes were re-opened prior to 8 a.m.

Replacement of the 30 cm (12 inch) pipe will be complete sometime later this evening, and reconstruction of the road will take up to 24 hours. Both City of Toronto Water and Transportation Services crews are working around the clock to re-open the road as quickly as possible.

Eastbound traffic is being redirected north or south on Lower Simcoe St. and can re-access Lakeshore Blvd. at York St.

Water service to a nearby parking garage has been disrupted, but neighbouring condominiums and other buildings are not experiencing any problems.
