Media Advisory - Fire fighter from France cycling around the world

The Toronto Professional Fire Fighters’ Association will present a cheque to a fire fighter from France who has taken a two-year leave of absence to cycle around the world and raise money for a friend’s very ill 5-year-old daughter.

Date: Wednesday, June 14
Time: Noon
Location: Fire Station 114, 12 Canterbury Place (north of North York Civic Centre)

Laurent Robin, 32, a professional fire fighter from Aix-les-Bains (France) has been riding a recumbent bike around the globe from fire hall to fire hall since August 1, 2004.

The girl, Chloe, is suffering from West Syndrome - a severe form of epilepsy, and requires a unique treatment that has been refined by the Family Research Institute in Oregon. To date, this valiant fire fighter has raised $174,000 of the required $210,000 for the treatment.

Toronto Fire Fighters have opened their arms and doors to welcome Laurent during his stay in Toronto, from June 11 to 16.
