Media Advisory - Flemingdon Resource Centre to be renamed in honour of Dennis R. Timbrell
Councillor Jane Pitfield (Ward 26 Don Valley West), Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong (Ward 34 Don Valley East) and representatives of the City of Toronto’s Parks, Forestry and Recreation division will be joined by Dennis R. Timbrell at a ceremony to rename the Flemingdon Resource Centre to the Dennis R. Timbrell Resource Centre.

Date: Saturday, September 23
Time: 1 p.m.
Place: Flemingdon Park, 150 Grenoble Dr.

Dennis R. Timbrell was a teacher in Don Mills prior to entering public life, first as Alderman on North York Council, and later as a Member of Parliament for Don Mills. Mr. Timbrell made significant contributions to the creation of many Flemingdon Park community assets, including the Flemingdon Resource Centre; Flemingdon Community Centre; Flemingdon Health Centre; and Flemingdon Neighbourhood Services. He was influential in the development of the Flemingdon Parkette and assisted in negotiating one of the first agreements to use Ontario Hydro lands for community recreation. The lands are now known as Flemingdon Park.

The renaming of this multi-use facility in honour of Dennis R. Timbrell is a tribute to his tireless advocacy on behalf of the residents of Flemingdon Park.
