Media Advisory - Great Lakeshore Cruise plants the seeds for therapeutic gardens

Toronto Homes for the Aged presents The Great Lakeshore Cruise, a gala evening event in support of the Lakeshore Lodge Therapeutic Gardens campaign. This event will take place aboard the Mariposa Northern Spirit on September 20.

Date: Wednesday, September 20
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Location: Mariposa Northern Spirit, Pier 6, Queen’s Quay West

Passengers will enjoy a gourmet meal, dancing under the stars and Monte Carlo entertainment games. The boat will sail past Ontario Place, where passengers will view the Rogers Chinese Lantern Festival, and weather permitting, also past Lakeshore Lodge, where residents, family members, volunteers and staff will be able to cheer them as they pass. The evening will also include a silent auction where passengers can bid on any of the 43 items ranging from jewellery to original artwork to hockey tickets. Jacquie Perrin, anchor of Saturday Report, CBC, will host this fun-filled evening.

All funds raised will support the Lakeshore Lodge Therapeutic Gardens project. Lakeshore Lodge, operated by Toronto Homes for the Aged, is an accredited long-term care home. Plans are underway to enhance the outdoor spaces, with shaded sitting areas, wider walkways and trellised pathways. The final result will be fully accessible, safe spaces that are peaceful and comforting and help to ensure every resident can explore and enjoy nature.

This cruise would not be possible without the support of gold sponsors Medical Pharmacies and Toronto Community News.

Toronto Homes for the Aged is committed to providing care and services that respect, support and enable residents and clients to have the highest possible quality of life. The Great Lakeshore Cruise is a good example of how the community is helping to make this vision an everyday reality.
