Fire at Christ Church, 329 Royal York Road
Toronto Fire responded to a report at 3 a.m. this morning of smoke coming from 329 Royal York Road. Upon arriving, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the front windows of Christ Church.

“Church fires are extremely hard to deal with and Toronto firefighters did a great job of stopping this fire,” said platoon chief Mike McCoy.

“This is a real tragedy,” added local Councillor Mark Grimes at the fire scene. “The church is an integral part of our community and was just being rebuilt from a fire two months ago.”

This four-alarm fire is now being investigated by the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office.
