Toronto Mayor David Miller wishes firefighter trainee a speedy recovery

On behalf of all Torontonians, Mayor David Miller today extended best wishes to ailing Toronto firefighter trainee Craig Weber and praised fellow trainees and City Emergency Medical Services crews for their life-saving efforts.

“Our thoughts are with Craig Weber and his family at this difficult time and we wish him all the best for a full and speedy recovery,” Mayor Miller said. “The quick work of his colleagues and Toronto EMS were instrumental in resuscitating him. This incident speaks to the exceptionally high level of training our emergency services personnel receive and to the important work they do each and every day.”

Weber, 35, suffered a cardiac arrest during morning exercises at Toronto Fire’s Eastern Avenue training facility yesterday morning. He was treated at the scene and rushed to hospital where he remains in stable condition.
