Media Advisory: City unveils mural at Bathurst and Wilson

As part of the Clean and Beautiful City initiative, Deputy Mayor Mike Feldman (Ward 10 York Centre) will officially unveil the mural covering the entire expanse of the 401 retaining wall at Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue. The mural was started in the fall of 2005 and completed in 2006.

Date: Sunday, June 25
Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Bathurst Wilson Parkette (southeast corner of Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue)

The transformation of the retaining wall to a stunning work of art was made possible by community partners, including Benjamin Moore Paints, KRG Children’s Charitable Foundation, The Brown Group of Companies and Rudy Bratty, Idomo, Liberty Developments, R.A.B. Properties, Lash Development Corporation, Torbel and the Ministry of Transportation.

Ian Leventhal, a member of the Roundtable on a Beautiful City and an acclaimed mural artist, designed and painted the mural with a small crew. The design is an extension of the park, by depicting a green setting that beautifies the public space.

Art in the Park, an art show comprised of works by local residents, will take place during the unveiling. Toronto residents are encouraged to visit the park to attend and enjoy refreshments.
