Planned closures for expressway roadwork complete for 2006

The City of Toronto’s Transportation Services Division has announced that there are no further major closures planned for either the Don Valley Parkway or the Gardiner Expressway in 2006.

As a result, both expressways will be fully open for two major upcoming events in the city - the Royal Winter Fair (November 3 to 12) and the Santa Claus Parade (November 19).

“The recently completed planned roadwork on both expressways has improved the safety conditions and quality of the roadway for the coming winter season,” said Gary Welsh, General Manager, Transportation Services. “The expressways are in good shape and we’d like to thank the public for their patience while this work was completed.

“Even though the expressways are now fully open, we still suggest that the public consider using public transit wherever possible as a convenient alternative to driving,” added Welsh.
