Media Advisory - Quilters, choir, colleagues celebrate 40 years of caring
Fudger House, a Toronto Home for the Aged, will celebrate 40 years of compassionate care at a special ceremony that features the unveiling of an anniversary quilt, a tree dedication, and musical performances by a corporate choir and a rising young talent.

Date: Thursday, June 15
Time: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (formal presentations at 2 p.m.)
Location: Fudger House, 439 Sherbourne St. (Wellesley and Sherbourne)

The anniversary quilt was created by the Fudger House Quilting Group, better known as “Sew What.” This group includes residents in their 40s to residents in their 90s, and offers a creative outlet for members with widely different life experiences and creative approaches.

To celebrate 40 years, and to signify growth for the next 40 years, Fudger House will dedicate a miniature maple tree to the residents, families, staff and friends that have made this long-term care home truly a home for four decades.

The event will also focus on musical memories, as young singer Lauren Margison and “Voices,” a choir featuring employees of Sears Canada, will serenade guests with memorable tunes from the 60s.

Fudger House, located in a high-density, culturally diverse area, is home to 250 residents. The home features an outdoor courtyard and welcoming green space, in the heart of downtown Toronto.

Toronto Homes for the Aged is committed to providing care and services that respect, support and enable residents and clients to have the highest possible quality of life. Fudger House has embraced this commitment, and is celebrating a 40-year legacy of being a leader in long-term care.
