Toronto Homes for the Aged will launch a new book that profiles the experiences and reflections of home residents during the Second World War. The launch of “I Remember . . . Reflections on World War II” will take place on the 65th anniversary of the famous British “V for Victory” campaign, which captured the imagination of the world in 1941.

Date: Thursday, July 20
Time: 2 to 4 p.m.
2:30 p.m.: formal launch ceremony
Location: Bendale Acres
2920 Lawrence Ave. E. (between Brimley and McCowan)

Councillor Gay Cowbourne (Ward 44 Scarborough East), Chair of the Roundtable on Seniors, will present the first copies of the book to a resident of Bendale Acres, representing all Homes for the Aged residents, and also to a student, representing youth and future generations who will gain valuable insights from the book.

There will also be a presentation by one of the residents featured in the book, who will share a personal reflection on life during the war years. Residents featured in the book and family members will also be on hand to celebrate this important opportunity to share invaluable experiences with future generations.
