Media Advisory - Connect the T.Dot Young Women’s Anti-Violence Forum

Young women from youth groups from the City’s 13 priority neighbourhoods will participate in a day-long forum with other young women from across the city to address community safety. The initiative is the result of a partnership between the City’s Community Safety Secretariat and the Toronto Youth Cabinet to inspire and motivate young women to create change for themselves, and their neighbourhoods.

Young women and service providers will work together to identify anti-violence strategies that address issues of interest to young women. The young women will participate in small group discussions, graffiti art, t-shirt making and Wen-Do self defense to allow for multiple forms of expression throughout the day.

Date: Saturday, April 29
Time: 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Mayor David Miller will tour the site at 2:30 p.m.
Location: Wellesley Community Centre, 495 Sherbourne St. (corner of Sherbourne and Wellesley - exit Sherbourne subway and walk south four blocks)

A working group will also be created to examine the recommendations put forward at the forum and strategy session.
