Media Advisory - Fire safety during camping season

June is Recreation month and Toronto Fire Services is partnering with Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation to highlight fire dangers during the camping season.

This day of safety awareness is dedicated to our Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation Youth Outreach Workers, Camp Counselors, Day Camp Leaders, and others involved in outdoor recreation programs.

Date: Thursday, June 15
Time: 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Location: Toronto Fire Academy, 895 Eastern Ave.

Our summer safety awareness will include scenarios about potential dangers on general tent safety around open flames, control of open pit fires and outdoor barbecuing, including the use of stove tops and deep frying.

For more information about barbecue safety visit http://www.toronto.ca/fire/prevention/safe_barbecuing.htm.
