Media Advisory - Say “Thanks” to your paramedics - GTA Emergency Medical Services Week kicks off on Sunday at Yonge-Dundas Square
National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week is May 14 to 20. EMS personnel from across the GTA - the front line of our health care system - are coming to Yonge-Dundas Square on Sunday to kick off EMS Week 2006.

EMS staff from Durham, Halton, Peel, Simcoe, Toronto and York will be on hand to launch EMS Week.

Date: Sunday, May 14
Time: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (official festivities begin at 11:30 a.m.)
Location: Yonge-Dundas Square (across from the Eaton Centre)

There will be vehicle displays from across the GTA featuring an array of ambulances for the public to tour, including specialized response vehicles, mountain bikes, all-terrain vehicles, a bus and Toronto’s vintage 1954 Henney Packard ambulance.

There will be free goodies for children, including Jr. Paramedic stickers, tattoos and colouring sheets. A paramedic rock band from York Region will provide entertainment.

Residents are invited to stop by Yonge-Dundas Square on Sunday to see the ambulances and say “thanks” to the paramedics who are out there on the streets of the GTA saving lives everyday.

For further information about this event or interview opportunities during EMS Week, call 416-392-2255.
