Media Advisory - Toronto to celebrate Seniors
On Monday, June 5 at 2 p.m., the Mayor’s Roundtable on Seniors will host its second annual celebration of Seniors’ Month in the Council Chamber at City Hall to recognize the contribution that seniors make to a healthy and vibrant city of Toronto. Community activist Fiona Nelson will deliver a keynote address on the theme of “Seniors in Action,” followed by a short speech by Odino Soligo, 85-year-old world record marathon runner. Information displays will offer an opportunity for seniors to learn more about government and community support services available to seniors.

What: Keynote address, followed by remarks from Mayor David Miller and Jim Bradley, Minister Responsible for Seniors

When: Monday, June 5, 2 to 5 p.m.

Where: City Hall Council Chamber and Members’ Lounge

Mayor David Miller and the Hon. Jim Bradley, Minister Responsible for Seniors, will speak at a reception in the Members’ Lounge following the keynote address (approx. 2:45). Councillor Gay Cowbourne, Chair of the Roundtable, will provide opening remarks to welcome seniors from across Toronto.

Staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about how to gain access to services.
