City announces two new bicycle locker locations
The City of Toronto, in partnership with the Toronto Transit Commission, has installed bicycle lockers at Finch and Downsview subway stations. The lockers are located near the kiss-and-ride at both of these stations.

The City of Toronto’s Bicycle Locker Project provides safe bicycle parking in key locations around the city. Lockers are available to cyclists for $10 (+GST) a month for a minimum four-month term.

Other bicycle locker locations include Toronto City Hall, Exhibition Place and 371 Bloor St. W. (in the parking lot behind University of Toronto Schools, at Bloor and Spadina). Future locations will include the Toronto Island Ferry Docks, Metro Hall and other public transit stations.

Bicycle lockers promote the use of transit and improve access for cyclists. They provide excellent, secure bicycle parking by improving protection from theft, vandalism and inclement weather. The lockers are designed to hold one bicycle each, as well as bicycle gear. Each locker has a unique lock and key to maximize security.

The Toronto Bike Plan recommends the development of enhanced bike parking facilities that offer higher levels of security against theft and better protection from the elements as a way of encouraging cycling. Similar bicycle locker programs are offered by many North American municipalities and transit authorities.
