Richard Boustead Foundation for Children’s Charities donates $10,000 to Toronto Children’s Breakfast Club

The Richard Boustead Foundation for Children’s Charities donated a cheque for $10,000 to the Toronto Children’s Breakfast Club today. The funds will assist the Club by providing social and educational stimulation for school age children while serving them a nutritious breakfast daily.

Richard Boustead worked for Toronto Emergency Medical Services for 27 years, as a paramedic and supervisor, before he passed away on July 1, 2002. Shortly before his passing, the Toronto Children’s Breakfast Club named their Falstaff location in his honour. The Richard Boustead Foundation for Children’s Charities was also formed in 2002 by his widow, Debbie Boustead.

“We started this foundation so that my late husband’s legacy would live on,” said Debbie Boustead. “It was very important to him to always give back to the community, and more importantly, to support organizations that directly affect the welfare of children that need it the most. Success at school helps to encourage a desire for success in life in general. With this donation, raised with generous support of our donors and volunteers, we have reached our short term goal of being the sole funding provider for the Richard Boustead Falstaff Breakfast Club.”

“These funds will assist us in providing breakfast for the children on a daily basis and contribute to educational activities for them as well,” said Richard Gosling. “It will also free up funds, so that we can look into starting more breakfast clubs in communities across the City.”

“Toronto EMS paramedics, dispatchers, and other staff have been dedicated to volunteering twice a month at the Richard Boustead Falstaff Breakfast Club,” said Toronto EMS Chief Bruce Farr. “We are dedicated to building a long term relationship with the Breakfast Club, so that we can make a direct impact on these childrens’ lives. The Toronto Children’s Breakfast Clubs make a difference everyday by serving breakfast to kids before they go to school.”
