Media Advisory - Beautifying urban landscapes with bulbs
Mayor David Miller and Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone, together with Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation (TPTF) Chair Patrick Berne, will launch Better Urban Landscapes with Bulbs (BULBS). Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation has partnered with TPTF to launch BULBS, a program that seeks to beautify public parks and other publicly accessible green spaces through establishing permanent plantings of spring flowering bulbs.

Date: Saturday, September 23
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (official remarks at 11 a.m.)
Location: Gossip Restaurant (at the Bandshell), Exhibition Place
(Just west of the Better Living Centre; use parking lot H)

BULBS will activate in Jamestown, Jane/Finch and Kingston/Galloway neighbourhoods where youth will be engaged as leaders in community beautification, planting and permanent bulb displays. Planting events will take place in each of these neighbourhoods in October.

The program launch will also include a live broadcast of the Garden Show with Mark Cullen, daffodil bulb sales, an ‘ask the gardener’ feature, and a barbecue with refreshments. All proceeds from bulb sales and donations will go to the BULBS program and the TPTF Community Grant Program.
