Internationally trained design professionals to showcase work

Affiliated with the City of Toronto’s Festival of Architecture & Design (fAd), the Association for Access to the Professions of Planning and Architecture (AAPPA) is presenting an exhibition of work by internationally educated architects, planners, designers, and artists.

The exhibition includes creative design and art works by these foreign trained professionals who are from very diverse educational and professional backgrounds. Participants have received training or have practised in different countries such as Britain, the US, China, Romania, Lebanon, Brazil, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Kenya and India. They are exhibiting their work in the fields of architecture, urban planning, urban design, graphic design, as well as fine arts, such as photography and painting. The exhibition includes examples that have won design competition awards.

For a glimpse into the diversity and creativity of internationally trained professionals, members of the public are welcome to attend an opening reception on Friday, May 26 at 6 p.m. The exhibition also will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 27 and 28.

The exhibition is on display at “Gallery Streetsville,” located at 354 Queen Street South, Mississauga. For more information, including directions, visit the gallery website at http://www.gallerystreetsville.ca.

The exhibition is part of fAd 2006, this year’s Festival of Architecture and Design. fAd includes a wide range of exhibitions, films, receptions, talks, tours, and the Doors Open Toronto weekend. It is also part of “Live with Culture,” a 16-month celebration of creativity.
