Nathan Phillips Square Gets Fresher by the Wednesday|
| || ||
Fresh Wednesdays presented by Scotiabank offers the perfect lunchtime combination — Nathan Phillips Square’s own Farmers’ Market and free noon hour concerts from upcoming jazz, blues and soul artists. Fresh Wednesdays takes place every Wednesday from July 12 – August 23 at Nathan Phillips Square.
The Ontario Farmers will provide an incredible array of crisp vegetables, juicy fruits, warm pastries, fresh-cut flowers and much more right in the downtown core from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The free open-air live concerts will be held from noon – 2 p.m. under the Fresh Wednesdays banner. Here is the most anticipated entertainment lineup for this year:
Shakalaka Baby from Bombay Dreams will kick start the festivities with a performance by Divya Kumar’s Bollywood Dance performing a dazzling spectacle of music and dance from India’s bustling film industry. The Shannon Butcher Trio gives the audience a taste of her jazzed up renditions of top 40 hits as well as original material.
Bonny Morgan, accompanied by The Player’s Club will seduce the audience with her smooth and alluring voice.
Chris Bottomley will present his unique blend of jazz fused with rock, funk, soul, reggae and world music.
Nick Cuda will express his passion of Spanish Jazz through his distinctive musical stories.
Country singer Donna Ferra takes over the mic with her vivacious voice.
Dance to that genuine Caribbean beat that Andy Earle will be creating.
The atmosphere is reminiscent of ’70s soul when Shelley Hamilton shares her rich velvet voice with the crowd.
Plus, audience members can enter to “Win The Money” – $1,000 courtesy of Scotiabank! Just pick up a Wednesday or Thursday copy of Metro or Word Magazine or go online at http://www.toronto.ca/special_events for a ballot.
