Proxy certificates now available for November 13 election
Proxy certificates are now available for the November 13 municipal election in the City of Toronto. If an elector cannot vote, for any reason, on any of the available voting days, they can appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf beginning October 3.

The proxy must be someone who is an eligible elector in the City of Toronto and who the elector trusts to vote in accordance with their wishes.

Proxy certificates are available by mail by calling the election information line (416-338-1111, for TTY service call 416-338-0889). Proxy certificates are also available from the City Clerk's Office during regular business hours (Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). On the advance vote weekend (Saturday November 4 and Sunday November 5) the City Clerk's Office will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to issue proxy certificates.

Proxy certificates must contain original signatures and must be certified by the Clerk’s office to be accepted at the voting place. Election officials will not accept faxed or photocopied certificates.

Weekday advance voting runs from Monday, October 23 to Wednesday, November 1 at City Hall, the East York, Etobicoke, North York and Scarborough Civic Centres and the Maria A. Shchuka MAS Library from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Weekend advance voting takes place at one location in each ward on Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On election day, November 13, voting places will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voters do not need a special reason to vote at advance voting locations. In late October, voters will receive a voter information card that tells them where to vote on election day and during advance voting on November 4 and 5. Voters are also reminded to check if their name is on the voters list by calling 416-338-1111. For TTY service please call 416-338-0889.
