Media Advisory - Mayor Miller joins neighbours at Eglinton East/Kennedy Park Service Fair

Mayor David Miller will join residents of the Eglinton East/Kennedy Park neighbourhood at a service fair that will profile the wide range of services offered by the City of Toronto and community organizations.

The service fair, presented by Eglinton East/Kennedy Park Neighbourhood Action Team, will feature performances, demonstrations and information booths by local organizations such as Tropicana Community Services, Second Base and Afghan Women’s Community. Neighbours can also get first-hand information about various City of Toronto services, including Children’s Services, Parks, Forestry and Recreation, Public Health, Social Services and the Toronto Police Service.

Performances and demonstrations will range from steel drumming to children’s face painting. Refreshments and snacks will also be available.

Date: Saturday, July 15
Times: Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Mayor Miller’s speech at 11 a.m.
Location: Kenway Plaza, 2428 Eglinton Ave. E. (northeast corner of Kennedy and Eglinton)
Rain location: Mid-Scarborough Community Recreation Centre, 2467 Eglinton Ave. E. (at Midland)

The City of Toronto’s Community Safety Plan is supported by four pillars: strong neighbourhoods; a co-ordinated crisis response program; employment and engagement opportunities for youth; and youth justice that balances enforcement with prevention. Part of building strong neighbourhoods is to connect government and community services and resources towards the shared goal of making communities safer. The Eglinton East/Kennedy Park Neighbourhood Action Team is one of 13 teams in place across Toronto to create and enhance these critical connections.
