Media Advisory - City of Toronto and Foresters invest in Flemingdon Park youth

Mayor David Miller called on the private sector to offer employment, training and mentoring opportunities for youth in Toronto. Foresters answered that call and has hired two young interns from the Flemingdon Park neighbourhood, and has committed to hiring four more in the next year.

This initiative supports the youth opportunity pillar, one of the four pillars of Toronto’s Community Safety Plan and is one aspect of Foresters multifaceted approach to investing in Flemingdon Park youth. Other initiatives are currently being developed to assist youth, including investing in Flemo City Radio, a small community radio station operated by young adults for youth that is also supported by the Ontario Science Centre. Flemo City Radio will record the launch event for future broadcast and offer guests a tour of their operations.

Date: Thursday, August 17
Time: 4 p.m.
Place: Flemingdon Resource Centre, 29 St. Dennis Dr. (just south of Eglinton Ave. E. and east off Don Mills Rd.)

Speeches followed by a photo opportunity and questions. Participants include:

  • Toronto Mayor David Miller
  • George Mohacsi, CEO, Foresters
  • Foresters’ Interns
  • Lesley Lewis, CEO, Ontario Science Centre
  • JB from Flemo City Radio
