Mayor Miller leads delegation to Kyiv, attends Metropolis conference in Berlin
Mayor David Miller will lead a delegation of 40 business representatives to
Kyiv, Ukraine from May 9 to 11, to grow the relationship between the two cities
and enhance established business and cultural links.

Representatives from the Canadian Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and the
Ukrainian-Canadian Congress will join Mayor Miller, Councillor Gloria Lindsay
Luby, and City economic development staff. The Toronto delegation will meet
with Ukrainian government officials and business representatives to discuss a
wide range of city issues. The goal of the mission is to identify business
opportunities and mutual areas of interest for co-operation and exchange.

“Toronto will gain much from establishing stronger business links with Kyiv,”
said Mayor David Miller. “We will also learn from Kyiv’s experiences, while
sharing some of Toronto’s best practices with our counterparts.”

Following his visit to Kyiv, Mayor Miller will travel to Berlin, Germany, to
participate in the 8th annual Metropolis Congress, hosted by the World
Association of Major Metropolises, from May 11 to 15. Under the theme
‘Tradition and Transformation – The Future of the City’, the event will explore
the broad spectrum of urban management issues. Metropolis is composed of cities
with more than one million inhabitants. Toronto’s Community Safety Plan is one
of the contenders for an international best practices competition, the winner
of which will be announced in Berlin.

Trip itinerary is available upon request.
