Ken Morrish Softball Complex Official Dedication Ceremony
  
Members of the media are invited to attend the official dedication ceremony for
the Ken Morrish Softball Complex at East Point Park.

DATE: Saturday June 24, 2000

LOCATION: Ken Morrish Softball Complex
East Point Park
101 Copperfield Road
(off Beechgrove Drive, south of Lawrence Avenue East)

Mr. Morrish, together with family members, City Councillors Tom Jakobek, Ron
Moeser, and David Soknacki, and representatives of Toronto Parks and Recreation
will unveil a new sign in honour of Mr. Morrish.

Mr. Morrish has an extensive history of public service in the Scarborough
community and the City of Toronto. First elected to Scarborough Council as an
Alderman in 1967, his distinguished political career has seen him in the role
of Deputy Mayor of Scarborough, Mayor of Scarborough, Metro Councillor, and
Deputy Metro Chairman. In addition, Mr. Morrish has held positions on the
Board of Directors for the Canadian National Exhibition, the Metropolitan
Toronto Convention and Visitors' Association, and the Canadian Sports Hall of
Fame.

Mr. Morrish was instrumental in the development of East Point Park when it was
under the jurisdiction of the former Metro Toronto.
