This two-storey retail and apartment building underwent a significant modernization in 2002. Architectural details were preserved including leaded-glass sash windows, ornamental parapet brickwork and interior second-floor woodwork, while new solar thermal panels, and an innovative hydronic air conditioning system were added. The building has received environmental awards at the city, provincial, national and international levels.

Event information:
The doors will be open to the mechanical room, showing the workings of the solar thermal system. Solar panels are visible from the street level, though for safety reasons, access to the roof will not be permitted.

Other information:
There is a steep set of stairs with low overheads to access the basement mechanical room. Persons with physical limitations may have difficulty.
